About The Artwork
As a figurative artist, I have often asked females to pose for me nude. The majority of the time I have been rejected and the number one reason has been shame of the naked body. I chose to convey that shame by having the figure in the painting covering her face. Yet, while she's covering her face in shame, the work is one of beauty...as is the female body...regardless of size, color, shape or whatever people choose to be ashamed of. The human body is vibrant, vivacious, textured, alive with activity...and this is symbolized in the colors the pop off of the canvas.
