About The Artwork

Imagine me and you, I do I think about you day and night, it's only right To think about the girl you love and hold her tight So happy together If I should call you up, invest a dime And you say you belong to me and ease my mind Imagine how the world could be, so very fine So happy together I can't see me lovin' nobody but you For all my life When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue For all my life Me and you and you and me No matter how they toss the dice, it had to be The only one for me is you, and you for me So happy together I can't see me lovin' nobody but you For all my life When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue For all my life Me and you and you and me No matter how they toss the dice, it had to be The only one for me is you, and you for me So happy together Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba Me and you and you and me No matter how they toss the dice, it had to be The only one for me is you, and you for me So happy together So happy together How is the weather So happy together We're happy together So happy together Happy together So happy together So happy together (ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba) ‘Happy Together’ by The Turtles Songwriters: Alan Gordon & Garry Bonner "Happy Together" is a song written by Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon and recorded by American pop band the Turtles. It was released as a single, b/w "Like the Seasons", in February 14, 1967, and peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band's first and only chart-topper there. The song also reached the top 20 in diverse countries, including number 2 in Canada and number 12 in the UK. It was later included on their third studio album Happy Together (1967). The initial idea for "Happy Together" came to Alan Gordon at a candy store in Brooklyn, New York. Later as members of The Magicians, a New York City-based Rock & Roll group, Bonner and Gordon composed the rest of the song. The lyrics, despite the joyous sound of the music, express an unrequited, imagined love. They recorded two demos, one comprised a simple arrangement of acoustic guitar and handclaps, along with a second demo with more instruments, recorded at Regent Sound in New York City. The second demo was produced by Ritchie Adams. A session musician, who also claimed to have played on it, states that it was more well recorded. The demo was offered and rejected by a dozen artists, due to its primitive sound. At the same time, Bonner and Gordon also heard very positive feedback on the demo from their contemporaries. The Turtles, who had come from commercial and personal problems, found the demo and, thinking the song as a potential hit, initially rehearsed it in live performances. They recorded their version in the Sunset Sound studio, with the newly-arrived bassist Chip Douglas arranging the horns and backing vocals. After the song's successful release, the band were called to perform on several TV shows like The Ed Sullivan Show and The Smothers Brothers Show. Music critics has continued to praise the Turtles version for its pop qualities. It was covered by several acts, with the most successful cover being from the soft rock duo Captain & Tenille, and featured on numerous movies and TV shows. Thus, the song is inducted in the list of the most-performed songs in the United States of the 20th century by BMI in 1999, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007. Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, singers of the Turtles, were involved on various legal battles due their attempts to copyright "Happy Together" against unauthorized broadcasts, notably with Sirius XM Radio. The Turtles are an American rock band led by vocalists Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, later known as Flo & Eddie. The band had several Top 40 hits beginning in 1965 with their cover version of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe". They scored their biggest and best-known hit in 1967 with the song "Happy Together". The sextet (later, quintet) first started as a surf music act named the Crossfires, releasing a now obscure single on a local label. They were then signed to White Whale Records and adopted the folk rock genre, exemplified in their debut album (in which included "It Ain't Me Babe"). After a marginal success with their second album, The Turtles changed their style to a sunshine pop group, scoring their only Billboard number one hit with the psychedelic "Happy Together", and Top 10 hits "She'd Rather Be with Me", "Elenore" and "You Showed Me". But after their commercial waning, which began in late 1968, and many conflicts with White Whale, the band broke up in 1970. Kaylan and Volman later found long-lasting success as session musicians, billed as the comedic vocal duo "Flo & Eddie". In 2010, a reconstituted version of the band, "the Turtles Featuring Flo & Eddie", began performing live shows again. Source: Wikipedia

I’m (I am?) a self-taught artist, originally from the north suburbs of Chicago (also known as John Hughes' America). Born in 1984, I started painting in 2017 and began to take it somewhat seriously in 2019. I currently reside in rural Montana and live a secluded life with my three dogs - Pebbles (a.k.a. Jaws, Brandy, Fang), Bam Bam (a.k.a. Scrat, Dinki-Di, Trash Panda, Dug), and Mystique (a.k.a. Lady), and five cats - Burglekutt (a.k.a. Ghostmouse Makah), Vohnkar! (a.k.a. Storm Shadow, Grogu), Falkor (a.k.a. Moro, The Mummy's Kryptonite, Wendigo, BFC), Nibbler (a.k.a. Cobblepot), and Meegosh (a.k.a. Lenny). Part of the preface to the 'Complete Works of Emily Dickinson helps sum me up as a person and an artist: "The verses of Emily Dickinson belong emphatically to what Emerson long since called ‘the Poetry of the Portfolio,’ something produced absolutely without the thought of publication, and solely by way of expression of the writer's own mind. Such verse must inevitably forfeit whatever advantage lies in the discipline of public criticism and the enforced conformity to accepted ways. On the other hand, it may often gain something through the habit of freedom and unconventional utterance of daring thoughts. In the case of the present author, there was no choice in the matter; she must write thus, or not at all. A recluse by temperament and habit, literally spending years without settling her foot beyond the doorstep, and many more years during which her walks were strictly limited to her father's grounds, she habitually concealed her mind, like her person, from all but a few friends; and it was with great difficulty that she was persuaded to print during her lifetime, three or four poems. Yet she wrote verses in great abundance; and though brought curiosity indifferent to all conventional rules, had yet a rigorous literary standard of her own, and often altered a word many times to suit an ear which had its own tenacious fastidiousness." -Thomas Wentworth Higginson "Not bad... you say this is your first lesson?" "Yes, but my father was an *art collector*, so…"
