About The Artwork
I always had a fascination with coloured Moroccan lanterns, especially when they hang all in one shop, the light reflecting differently on each, creating a myriad of colours. Other forms of Arabic art that I absolutely love are the arabesque and the Arab calligraphy. I wanted to incorporate in this painting those forms of art to create a feeling of a harem, or an intimate place. After a trip to Granada in Spain, and to the Alhambra palace, the idea started to form. When looking at the painting I wanted to give the feeling of peeking into an intimate moment, where a woman is sleeping covered in roses, under a ceiling filled with lanterns from all colours and shapes. The aim of the painting is to give a feeling of intimacy, sensuality, closeness, and beauty. I wanted an inviting place filled with colours and patterns that reminded me of an Arabic "hammam".

Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, during the civil war and the most difficult times the country faced, she graduated from "Universite Saint-Joseph", with a masters in Economics, and graduated from "Universite Saint-Esprit Kaslik" with a pre-PhD in Marketing. She continued her studies at the London School of Business, where she received a post-graduate diploma in Marketing. She then travelled around the world, discovering Europe, the United States and Asia. She is currently living in Singapore with her husband and daughter, where she is a lecturer in Economics. She is a self-taught artist whose love and passion for painting led her to push the boundaries of her talent, and share her vision of art.
