Heartscapes Print

Seçil Erkmen graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Industrial Product Design, bachelor degree in 2012, in Istanbul. After graduation she had worked as a designer in different fields. She designed exhibition booths, glass installations and lighting projects both locally and internationally. After combining her experiences, 3d modeling skills and material knowledge such as glass, wood, metal in design area, she decided to focus on personal art projects. She lives and produces in her own studio Istanbul. In her paintings she utilizes various mediums such as watercolor, ink, marker, acrylic, oil, laser-cut metal panels and still discovers new materials. Her works are natural outcomes of her very own spiritual and emotional processes. For her, art is a way to understand oneself. The creation process is instinctive and unpredictable. She is open to bring the viewer’s perception to different dimensions by using also contemporary tools and aims to invite them to experience an other world. With a modern painting language she gets her inspiration from the concepts like transformation, metamorphosis, birth, symmetry, masculine and feminine principles by her own observations and experiences in nature. Thus we can see the flowing forms and changing possibilities in her works.
