About The Artwork

"ILLUSION", 2021, acrylic on canvas, 140x120x2,5 cm The 2020-2021 gave me the opportunity to be alone with myself. I thought a lot and painted obsessively. This wonderful period had a deep influence on me and inspired my creativity. It was a revelation—how fragile a person is and how quickly and easily birds and animals returned to places where only people lived—to cities, how quickly nature came to life. This made me believe that the world is not what we imagine it to be: the world of people is surreal and changeable. The natural world is relevant and eternal. The painting is dominated by bright and rich colors—red, orange and colors contrasting with them—ultramarine and emerald. This selection of colors is perceived as festive, even Christmas. And festive associations come to mind—attraction, fun, fireworks, illumination. This painting uses fluorescent paints, so in the light of neon lamps, you will see how gaiety the painting is, like a sparkling garland. At first, it seems that the girl is wearing a diving mask. But only if not for her laughter, which suggests that not everything is so obvious. However, there is no 100% holiday feeling from the painting. Rather, there is a feeling of the finality of the holiday. A feeling of impending hangover and sobering. This is the illusion of a holiday. The next shot should be as follows: the last light went out, turquoise water and fish remained, and the person disappeared. In the Illusion painting, I tried to convey this strange feeling when it is not clear who is an illusion for whom—a fish for a person or a person for a fish.
