About The Artwork

We're all pretty aware of the headiness that comes with enthusiastic audience approval. Success in any undertaking is rewarding and almost always celebrated, but with it comes the danger of getting carried away. The spotlight of social media has increased risks for over-exposure, and everyone is susceptible. Some are torn apart by the media, others give of themselves to their followers, still others feel a need to put their lives back together once the spotlight has left. This is a re-worked piece, updated to reflect the fragmenting effect of living under the lights. Yet, who doesn’t love to be adored?

Roger Kirk is an American artist, born in Trinidad, living in Texas. He works in many media including oil, acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, pastels and mixed media. Roger has been painting since childhood and has won international competitions in art, music and languages. He studied art with Jackie Hinkson at Queens Royal College in Trinidad and under scholarship at the Scottsdale Artists' School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Roger's artistic journey has been described as a mesmerizing interplay of light, color, and emotion. Through his masterful brushstrokes and intricate compositions, he captures the essence of fleeting moments and translates them onto canvas and paper. His work beckons viewers to step into his world, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, inviting contemplation and connection. When he's not in the studio, Roger actively supports non-profit ventures such as Meals on Wheels of Central Texas, and the Arizona Consortium for the Arts, the latter of which he is a founding member. He also co-manages a retail shop on Facebook called "Nemo's Place" with his partner, Joseph. Roger's works have been purchased by collectors all over the globe.
