About The Artwork
The painting Doña Isabel de Porcel, born at Ronda around 1780, is inspired from the portraits of past times. From portraits of the noble men and women who posed in their beautiful houses and castles of their time. I try to put myself in that time period in order to familiarize myself with the person. Then follows extensive research into the characters’ history, before I can finally start painting this beautiful woman. The painting contains self-designed jewellery, smooth backgrounds and a lot of relief - touching is allowed! -. The Painting is acrylic/mixed media on “gallery-wrapped 1”. canvas, edge painted and ready to hang. Cross laths provide extra sturdiness. 1. In this wrapping method, the canvas is stretched around the wooden frame and secured in the back where the hardware (staples, tacks, etc.) is hidden. The sides of the canvas are primed and painted the same as the front, allowing the canvas to be presentable without a frame.
