About The Artwork
The artist's friend, a violin maker, has borrowed an old violin and bow. The artist could not help but admire the beauty of the 150-year-old wood surface and its traditional shape, which could only be described as lean and brilliant. It was an unalloyed pleasure for him to paint it, immersing himself in the visual and manual work. The framed painting in the background is La Primavera, the most beautiful and famous wall painting left in the ruins of Pompeii. It is his wife's favourite painting, so he bought a calendar featuring the murals of Pompeii and framed one of them. The artist had a hard time depicting the very old mural-like texture.
