About The Artwork
This work is part of a zodiac series. In my work I look for a dialogue between the inner and outer world. My work is very autobiographical, my portraits are the eyes through which I look at the world. The first layer of the portrait is made in washed ink, where I paint with water and the watercolours find their way. I combine this spontaneous technique with details in gouache and acrylic.

Charlotte Greeven is an Amsterdam-based artist who creates captivating and emotive portraits through the fluid use of ink on paper. From an extensive portrait collection to commissioned work, sculptures and live painting events, her diverse portfolio reflects her creativity and versatility. Inspired by light, movement and colour, Charlotte continues to evolve her painterly aesthetic. Starting her painting career as a graduate from the Royal Academy, The Hague, she has since honed her craft through various courses such as Lighting Design and Scenography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
