About The Artwork

Leonard Cohen, born September 21, 1934 in Westmount, Quebec, and died November 7, 2016 in Los Angeles, California, was a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, poet, novelist and painter. The Canadian singer, a folk legend, left behind him dark lyrics and a life marked by mysticism. Leonard Cohen had a voice like no other, dark lyrics, addictive melodies, to compose the soundtrack of an entire generation. It was in 1967 that the singer came out of anonymity, a few years after Bob Dylan. His music is folk music in which he tells of his sorrows and uneasiness, he dresses his anguish and depression with words. Leonard Cohen traces his path, indifferent to the musical wave. In 1984, he signs a new world hit, "Hallelujah". But ten years later, he chose to disappear, in the midst of a mystical crisis. When he was found, he became a Buddhist monk. He misses the stage and he ends up going back up, his voice ever lower, his elegance intact. Leonard Cohen died at the age of 82.

I am a passionate Dutch portraitist who lives and works in France (Blois). I paint personalities and people who touch me, inspired by their talent and vision of life. My paintings are a tribute to these artists of all kinds, authentic, pure and, in my opinion, talented. I started with figurative Portraits. Now I am experimenting with pop art and contrasting colors. I like to work in series: Forever 27, Jazz musicians and singers, Impressionist Painters, Pop Music Stars, French singing and musical artists. I am happy to share these portraits with you and invite you to discover them here.
