About The Artwork

A worker busy washing coffee beans looks up from his work and the sun falls on him. In the background is a very different landscape-a landscape shaped by grey material, with a pattern to the foreground. It alludes to an inner desire of the man depicted to be somewhere and someone else. This artwork is done in oils on canvas. The canvas is rolled up and shipped in a tube. It has no supporting frame at the back. It is possible to give it one at extra cost and a different shipping arrangement.

Janna is a South African artist, born and raised in the capital, Pretoria, where she also obtained an Honours degree in Fine Art at the local university. She now lives and practices art from her studio at home in Cape Town. In her oil paintings she explores the inner world of people and expresses it often through the relationship of figures and landscape. The type of landscape, it’s colour, and the position of the figures all give clues as to what could be happening in that person’s soul. Painting is her passion as she loves the immediacy and vibrancy of oil paint applied to a canvas or board. Currently she is challenging herself to explore new styles, expressions and applications of oils, and is deeply fascinated with colour and how they play off each other. Her work focuses on the positive, pouring courage and hope into people.
