Marilyn Monroe, Sweet Norma Jane With this portrait of Norma Jane, Hans Veltman wanted to get to the heart of the Marilyn Monroe myth, to discover the heightened sensitivity and true creativity that lay behind the image of the luscious blonde to which she was so often reduced. It reveals the grace of a fragile being, subject to perpetual introspection and in constant search of love. More than that, it reveals the talent and depth of a sensitive, often melancholy artist, with a passion for Joyce, Kerouac and the Italian Renaissance painters, and an unfailingly exacting approach to the roles she was given to play. Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer, born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles and died on August 4, 1962 in the same city.
