About The Artwork

'Marilyn in Colors' is an original contemporary multi-media work. Photo paper, Acrylic paint, Art board and glue have been used to create the piece. This piece is about Identity and Perception. Take the face of someone who most others think they know and these subjects become emphasised. The idea is to illustrate the facets and enigma of personality. The different colours signify different aspects of her nature, or our perception of her nature. Yellow might be thought of as Sunny, Bright, Happy etc. Many saw her as Golden. Pink could have many connotations as could Flesh. Blue, there may have been moments. Orange/Tan….often found on the beach? But in the end did anyone really know her? Does anyone really know anyone else? I only know about her through watching films, listening to songs, looking at pictures…..Thanks to Mr Warhol, Hollywood etc.

Self taught he has Painted, Illustrated, worked outside of Art, been to Art Schools ( long ago and far away, -the first one had a large library with a great section on Painting ( and most other things ) where he spent many entranced hours, did much life drawing and (more) Art History. At the second school he studied graphics. After a time as an Illustrator he changed direction. Art History says that some Artists left Financial Services in order to to take up their work as Artists. He follows this trend with a slight twist of his own.. He has painted in many 'styles' over time and sold off and online. Painting was what he loved doing as a child, as a school boy and as an adult. " I still have that 'thing' that makes me want to paint". .......
