Mullein Print

Mullein was inspired by these tall, lanky, wild plants that I noticed growing in the fields and roadsides by my home in Southern Vermont. Once I identified it, I remembered my herbalism teacher a few years ago describing this wild plant and the healing properties it possesses in our class and talking about how it changed her life (Her lungs had been damaged on 9/11, she and her classmates were in their school close to the twin towers when they collapsed, and everyone experienced lung problems after that. She healed hers with Mullein she found over summers in the country and began her path to herbalism.) I was struck by the presence and authority of this plant and very inspired to try to capture that essence in a painting.
