#3 in a short series on nature vs. the human affect, or sometimes I want to say human defect considering the way we treat this, our only, planet. Sacred Land to me refers to a place untouched by human habitation, visitation, or occupation. It is as it was when it was created and only changes as nature intends it. This particular work is based off my repeated visits to Delhi in upstate New York (throughout my childhood and teenage years). My father had an old college friend with a dairy farm there, and daily I would walk through the pastures, petting every cow along the way, and to the mountain range just beyond. I knew my paths and the area well since my family would hunt out there. However, my interests were always in nature itself and to experience the animals (I would actually try scare them off from the hunters to my father's ultimate chagrin). Sadly, for years now Delhi is losing farms and open fields to summer homes and retreats for the wealthy of NYC. Ships late April.

Statement: PORTRAITS AND PLANTS: My work offers less about the detailed physicality of nature and instead captures the purest emotions bestowed upon the human condition by exposure to nature. The idea of life is given by stroke, passion by line, belief via color, and all displayed as offerings to our truest self. Bio: To Michigan artist Jon Parlangeli there is no other path but to constantly ask and then answer questions via different modalities within his medium. This leads to new explorative bodies of work offering differing styles, genres, or techniques that satiate his curiosity for the space between real and the abstract. Parlangeli uses both nature and figure as his muse often jostling between them to solve internal conundrums exposed during studio sessions. Standing over such processes is his artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind, Parlangeli uses color as his weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime. Parlangeli is a seasoned painter who has placed works within corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His works have been shown in the US and internationally.
