Sometimes you need to find a compromise with yourself and with your conscience. Resentment is a person's reaction to not fair insult, as well as the negative emotions caused by this. Anger against the abuser and self-pity in a situation where nothing can be fixed. And sometimes it is very difficult to apologize. It seems to us that this “hits” our self-esteem, makes us weak in the eyes of the others, makes us step over ourselves and, most importantly, encourages us to admit that we did wrong.
