The following text is an extract from the opening scene movie Rubber (2010) by Quentin Dupieux. Recommended watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rmf5EqJVDw In the Steven Spielberg movie "E.T.", why's the alien brown? "No reason." In "Love Story", why did the two characters fall madly in love with each other? "No reason." In Oliver Stone's "JFK", why's the President suddenly assassinated by some stranger? "No reason." [...] I could go on for hours with more examples. The list is endless. You probably never gave it a thought. But all great films, without exception, contain an important element: a "no reason". And you know why? Because life itself... is filled with "no reason". Why can't we see the air all around us? "No reason." Why're we always thinking? "No reason." Why do some people love sausages and other people hate sausages? "No f***in' reason." [...] Ladies, gentlemen, the film you're about to see today is an homage to the "no reason" that most powerful element... of style.

Lancelot Blondeel's second exhibition this year is held at Galerie 12, rue des Beaux-Arts in Paris, this show allowed him to be exhibited alongside renowned artists like Hans Hartung, Sol Lewitt, Georges Mathieu or Henri Michaux—a testament to the convergence of past and future in his artistic research. - "How to exist in the world?" This age-old question settled within Lancelot Blondeel during adolescence, creating a tension between the "self" and the external world. High school philosophy classes only exacerbated this, inundating him with new concepts beyond his grasp. This led to a disconnect from reality and a dichotomy between perception and substance. How do our senses interpret reality? Can we trust ourselves? Is our consciousness suited to understanding the external world? These feelings persisted through his engineering studies, though science provided some solace in its rational explanations of natural phenomena. Then, he stumbled upon the work of philosopher Clément Rosset's "The Real and Its Double," which articulated the torment he'd felt for years. Seeing his affliction named and theorized was reassuring, making him realize that it is the relationship between humans and reality animates him. Around the same time, he visited a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the Franco-Chinese painter Zao Wou-Ki. On that occasion, he experienced a profound aesthetic feeling, difficult to describe, similar to the fleeting opening of a breach to another reality. It was this experience that pushed him to experiment with painting for the first time. He began by working on cardboard and stretched canvases. He discovered concentrated dyes, including a blue of such intensity that he exclusively used that color for the next six months. Being a meticulous engineer, he sought to understand every step. Today, he exclusively works with raw materials such as canvas (cotton or linen), mediums, additives (pigments, texture agents), and varnishes. He practices washes, glazes, collage, and explores volume manipulation techniques. @lancelot.blondeel _Solo Show 2023 | Aux Tables | Paris, France _Collective Shows 2024 | Galerie 12, rue des Beaux-Arts | Paris, France 2024 | Salon d'Automne | Paris, France 2023 | Salon des Artistes du Val-de-Marne (137th edition), Villa Médicis | Saint-Maur, France 2023 | Galerie Francis Barlier | Paris, France 2022 | "True Form" - Virtual Artists | London, United Kingdom
