About The Artwork

Series of 30 pieces - all illustrating Olivier Messiaen's Bird Catalogue. The idea of my Musical Transpaintings comes from the symphonic poetries of the 19th and 20th century. The series was started with paintings transcripting piano music of Arnold Schoenberg and his students Alban Berg and Anton Webern followed by Ravel's Daphnis et Cloé, Mendelsohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream and ballet music of Igor Strawinsky (Le sacre du printemps, Petrouchka, L'oiseau de feu), Toru Takemitsu, Karol Szymanowski, Claude Debussy, Dimitri Shostakovitch, Béla Bartók and Olivier Messiaen. The artwork is signed, dated and named with its RWV catalgue number on the reverse.
