Passionate Sky was painted in early 2021. This painting is a beautiful expression of a world on fire. That fire may have existed in our minds, our hearts, or in the very environment around us. Our perception of the world is sometimes influenced by the very things we are living through. The Story: eeth worried against my bottom lip as I watched the sky glow red and gold in the distance. The poking bristles of my beard evidence that I desperately needed a shave. I had woken suddenly, sheets drenched in sweat from a recurring dream that plagued my thoughts; and after long minutes of staring at the ceiling, I knew sleep was well beyond my reach. Lately it had been an elusive little fellow constantly disappearing sometime within the night. With a heavy sigh, I had gently relocated the delicate, silken hand wrapped around my waist and slipped from bed. I had hopped to find rest in the fresh air of the country side surrounding my home, but much like my sleep, rest was about to evade my reach. I stepped further onto the porch, my eyes fixated on the skyline. I could feel the dry cracked skin of my fingers brush against the porcelain coffee mug in my hand as my grip tightened reflexively. The sensation grated on my already raw nerves. I had only ever a seen a sky glow once before, in a past life. A memory my mind was often all to willing to recall. Inhaling deeply, I lifted my face to the wind where faint traces of smoke tingled against the inside of my nose; and yet on the next inhale.... Nothing. The scent was gone almost as quickly as it had come. Did I imagine it, or did the wind carry it away? I grimaced as frantic flashes of heat and light from my dream roared into memory, and I shoved them away in a panic. A fist clenched around my heart and my chest squeezed painfully. The air in my lungs was gone. I almost didn't register the coffee mug as it slipped to the side, hot liquid pouring over the edge. I stumbled gasping for air, managing to cling tightly to its handle, saving a little of what was left inside. Turning away from the trees, and willing the breath back into my lungs, I shut it out. I shut out the view of the woods, of the glowing water, and of the passionate colored sky. There was nothing on the wind; no smoke, no heat, no distant roar or crackle. It dawned on me then, standing there in that quiet moment, that maybe the fire was inside my mind.

Hello! You can call me Avrinell. My work is like my name, a little elegant and quite a bit whimsical. I am an impressionist painter from the Great Lakes State of Michigan, and I dream of a world that is all my own, each brush stroke painting a view that I would love to see. But more than that, I love it when art takes me someplace new, while still being able to remind me of the very places that I love in the world around me. Although landscapes are my favorite creations to bring to life, I will breath life into anything our minds can think of.
