About The Artwork

'Pecan Pi' Original Oil on Canvas 20"(h)x20"(w) From my "Series of Pun Paintings" and more specifically my "Pi Series". For this painting I used Andy Warhol's lithograph from his 'soup cans'. I liked the idea of ripping off Andy Warhol ripping off Campbell's. In my 'pun paintings' I deconstruct the English language by use of the pun. I was once told “it isn’t what you paint, but how you paint it.” I became bound and determined to prove that statement wrong. In my work it is about what I paint and how I paint it that makes it jump off the canvas. My Pun Paintings appeal to me personally for the humorous aspect and the witty form of intellectual play. Collectors of my work have expressed to me how much they love my work, every time they see it, it makes them smile and ready for whatever activity is next on the agenda. Also what a great conversation starter they are.

Ryan Rice is an experienced US painter with international exposure. His works are held in private collections worldwide. Humor and beauty are key themes and messages in his paintings which often employ vivid colors and pop art references. Rice describes his work as funny, witty, smart, opinionated and always unexpected. He hopes his work will bring a sense of lightness and comedic relief to his audience. Artist Statement: My artwork can be seen in many of the renowned galleries and museums worldwide-granted you have a computer and internet connection. My work is a reflection of me, and I consider myself to be funny, witty, smart, opinionated and always unexpected. My work includes both humorous works that incorporate puns and plays with and in the English Language, and in contrast other pieces are images that speak to me in either a matter of fact or an abstract manner.
