'Pieces' is a big acrylic painting on thick paper. It is inspired by the big flower paintings of Jannis Kounellis and Japanese minimalistic art. 'Pieces' is a part of a series i call Body Forms where i create a composition of forms and structures of 'bodies' on the paper. I'm thinking about the 2D paper as a 'cutouts' of the bodies it portrays. When the work is framed and covered with glass, the viewer’s reflection will appear or disappear in the Bodies painted on the paper. The artwork becomes a platform of communication between the maker and the viewer. I’m deeply interested in the encounter and exchange that my artwork provides. People often think about plants or insects or animals, they think about fashion cutouts, or about city or state maps when they view my work .. but for me, each of the Body Forms works is a very specific, accurate and detailed display of how i feel in the moment of making it. I work in a high state of concentration and flow mostly in the early morning hours, in my studio, daily.
