I take pleasure in capturing everyday scenes through my paintings. My inspiration for this particular artwork was found on the beach, where the colors of the surroundings and the striking swimsuit, complete with a petticoat, worn by the young girl, stimulated my creative senses. In this piece, I depict a joyous, carefree girl playing amid the beautiful beachscape of Langevelderslag near Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The use of watercolor on stone paper lends a unique texture to the painting, allowing the vibrancy of the scene to shine through. The beach is a timeless setting where children let their imaginations run wild, reveling in boundless fun. This girl appears completely immersed in her own world of adventure and play, surrounded by the sand, sea, and sky. The swimsuit with its petticoat, adorned with its unique colors and design, captures the playfulness of her youthful spirit and underscores the extraordinariness of this everyday scene. The painting invites the viewer to get lost in the simple joy of the moment, to reminisce about their own days at the beach, and to appreciate how everyday beauty can inspire us. It pays homage to the timeless charm of the beach and the unforgettable moments it can create. This artwork is created on mineral paper, composed of 80% calcium carbonate, providing a unique surface that is an eco-friendly alternative to wood-based or cotton paper. It is tear-resistant, foldable, and stays wrinkle-free. Watercolors used are from Daniel, Smith, Old Holland and Schmincke, all professional on mineral paper measuring 30 cm by 42 cm. I would like to be as environmentally friendly as possible and try to keep my waste, water footprint and Co2 as low as possible. That's why I prefer not to frame my artworks. It will take more packaging, more room in a truck (so more rides means extra fuel) and maybe you prefer a different frame or matting and things will never be used.

My artistic heart sings when I paint people, animals, and scapes. I express my creativity in various ways—I like to paint plein air, while other times, I draw inspiration from life's beautiful moments, all from the comfort of my cozy studio. Creativity has been a lifelong companion, but when rheuma became a part of my journey, I turned to watercolors. They're gentle on my hands and allow me to continue pursuing my passion. I'm a big fan of Mother Earth, so I'm very selective about the materials I use. It's an absolute must for me to choose eco-friendly options. Ordinary, everyday life inspires me. A simple beam of light, a burst of color, or a moment that resonates with my soul—those are the moments I long to capture in my art. I have an unwavering affection for painting everyday scenes and portraying real people. Colors are like pure magic in my world. I possess a multitude of palettes, each with a kaleidoscope of hues, carefully chosen to set the perfect mood. When inspiration strikes, my first instinct is to select the most perfect colors. And as for my canvas, I favor materials like mineral or rag paper—eco-friendly choices with a minimal water footprint. These canvases allow me to pour my passion onto paper with bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors. Strong, vivid hues on mineral or rag paper bring my distinctive, figurative style. In essence, my art is a tribute to the world, painted with love and eco-consciousness.
