About The Artwork

Louise Bourgeois is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. This French artist works strongly from herself and internally as a source of inspiration. This work is about my search for inner motivations, despite the distraction and temptation that the outside world offers. The glass cage protects me from the temptation to step out too quickly. The mushrooms represent the temptations offered by the outside world. Free birds fly menacingly around me, watching over me and my desire to fly out. My mother's pearl ring has a new pearl in the color of my eyes. The color I inherited from my father. Nice coincidence. The roots of the bear claw, the beautiful plant that should not be plucked because of its risk of burns, has the same symbolism as the dog. Good, but you have to keep your hands off it. I hope not to pass on my dog anxiety to my children. But the ring does.

Born in Weert, the Netherlands (1976), graduated Art Academy North Limburg (Belgium) in 2009. Artist in painting, animation and collage. In my work I try to capture moments of people, alone with their thoughts. They are in their own world and we can only guess what's on their mind. We never know what people are thinking, the only thing we never get grip on are other people's thoughts. Thoughts are for yourself and stay for yourself.
