About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by walk beside the river Sid which winds through the lovely 'Byes' Walk in Sidmouth. There is a small wooded area with little beaches where you can sit and watch the water running over stones and boulders, which is very soothing and mesmerising. I really love the work of Barbara Nicholls who creates beautiful cells with a pooling/ flooding technique with watercolours. I have used a similar method to create interesting textures and colour mixes for the rocks in my painting.

Hello all and welcome to my gallery page. I am an artist living in Devon in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Everyday I walk with my dog and am inspired by my natural surroundings of woodland, rivers, sea, all manner of wild plants, but also decay, found objects and secret places. Besides this I also like to paint still life, botanicals and some figurative work. I like to work mostly in oils as I love the way the medium develops over time, However I also use watercolour and acrylic to portray my passions. I have also been working on a series of abstracts and am very much enjoying starting with the process rather than the outcome. I am finding this very freeing and helpful to me creatively. I love to play with vibrant colours and effects like dripping, flooding, splatter etc. Thank you for looking at my work.
