About The Artwork
This is an original mixed media painting of 'September hedgerow', that pictures leaves, seed heads and flowers. Painted on deep edge canvas with acrylic and then hand beaded on top afterwards, with additional applique fabric. The painting comes varnished. Some of the beads are very chunky, to give the picture a 3D look. This painting took over 200 hours to create The edges of the canvas are left white, so you can choose whether to frame it or not. It also includes a wire hanging at the back.

I am inspired by bright colours and patterns in nature. when I was younger I was a Sunday girl in a local garden centre, and my parents had greenhouses, so I was always surrounded with lots of inspiration from plants, which are a reccuring theme in my work. I like to think I have an unusual technique. I generally work in acrylic on canvas, and I then bead and stitch on top, often using hundreds and thousands of tiny seed beads to embellish my artwork. It is not unusual for each piece to take over 200 hours. More recently I have also started experimenting with stitching on paper. I own and curate a gallery based In Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, allowing me to concentrate on my art career full time.
