About The Artwork
Shakti (Sanskrit-power) is the primordial energy permeating the cosmos – frequently represented in the female form. She is the consort of Shiva, the Lord of the Universe, the Destroyer. She is worshipped in different forms in different parts of India: Kamakhya in Assam, Kali in Bengal, Vaishno Devi in Jammu, Kanya Kumari in Tamil Nadu and as Durga in most parts of the country. The goddess Durga is depicted as having many arms and riding astride a lion. She is said to have been created to slay the demon Mahishasura (half-bull, half-man) and restored peace and balance to the universe. She is also considered a representation of the power of the feminine energy.

I am a self-taught artist, based in Assam, India. My curiosity as a child led me to the wonderful world of art. My recent works are inspired by folktales of Assam--my home and a small yet surreally beautiful state in India.
