About The Artwork

I take my inspirations from my travels and stays. Singapore Bloom Series has been inspired by the history, walks, colours and textures of Singapore. The Desert Rose, native from North Africa, thrives well in the Singapore weather and the red/pink blooms speak history and cross connections from the seas and journeys.

Nidhi Samani, is a British artist with Indian origin living in Singapore. She is a trained Fashion Designer turned artist, and explores multi disciplines with Oils, Acrylics, Charcoal, Mixed Medium and Chinese Brush painting. Nidhi is intrigued by the new dimensions that she perceives through her senses. John Olsen's quote “Painting is a means of self-enlightenment.” inspires Nidhi to follow her inner guidance and dimensions. Nature and enlightenment through mysticism is her source of inspiration that draws her to find the purpose of her existence, and she says “Painting is one of the many mediums of expressing what the senses sees and hears; art transcends the inner voice of the soul”. In her current works, her oeuvre is characterized by her vivid depiction of nature represented in mixed media. Inner Journeys: Inner Dimensions Her current series is on Inner Dimensions and the search within captivating the Zen moments on the canvas. These moments leave a mark and impression on the mind. Our mind has the capacity to carry the images that have been extracted through the senses, and stored in our subconscious, similar to a fossil. As an artist, Nidhi tries to capture those moments, exploring different industrial materials to create a resonance with her memories, as fossilized impressions. She adventures to combine her Zen aspect of Chinese art into various mediums that she explores. Nidhi took formal training in Fashion Designing 30 years ago, and found her passion for illustrations and translations of expressions in her sketches. She went on to establish VNF School of Fashion Designing, training adults in Fashion in India. She continued her passion with fashion by launching her own label. Destiny took her to London, where she took on a corporate career in Finance. Art took precedence, and she has been a practising artist for some time now. Many of her art is in private collection in Australia, India, Kenya, and the UK. She underwent a formal study in Western Art at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Fascinated by Chinese brush strokes, she took training under the tutelage of Master Lin Lu Zai in Singapore.
