At present he is a doctoral student at the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. Paweł Łyjak’s creativity reaching for a variety of formal means of expression usually oscillates around the theme of the artist’s self which is constantly subjected to artistic vivisection. While making subsequent works the artist uses his intimate, often painful, experiences from the past which he confronts with today’s reality. From the apparently illogical memory chunks he builds multi-layer compositions in which particular areas of the views of the world are mixed together, on many occasions contradicting or excluding one another. Emotionally, the almost compulsive combinations of signs represent, first and foremost, an attempt to find a universal answer to a question about the sense of individual existence. In contrasts and paradoxes of forms and meanings Paweł Łyjak finds an opportunity to tell about everything which otherwise cannot be expressed.
