About The Artwork

"Spring Of Humanity" Acrylic on Canvas by Onur Karaalioğlu, 2018. The chaotic state of the universe and complicated formations that the universe is in are the only urges that trigger Karaalioğlu’s artistic action. This chaotic structure, which shapes the artist’s perspective on the world, excludes ordinary life from its perception boundaries in his works. As the dynamism within the chaos transforms into a consistent behavior in the creative process of the artist, it also mediates the search for reality. The examination of the visible parts of the chaos within individual judgments, allows the reality to turn into a void from out of its own reality. Evaluating the concept of chaos over the bodies that can express human psychological tension, the artist regards the human body as the starting point of chaos due to its complicated structure and brings up the problems of the complexity of chaos. The body image, shaped by this understanding, puts a critical attitude towards the source of problems, while revealing the effects of chaos on the individuals naturally. In this context, structural distortions affecting the whole of the works create an individual mechanism of criticism by destroying the facts considered to be true, and ensure that the phenomenons are reconsidered.

ONUR KARAALIOGLU (1985, TURKEY) Sakarya University Art Design and Architecture Faculty Painting Department Faculty Member--------------------- ARTİST'S STATEMENT The state of chaos and complex formations that the universe is in are the sole impulses that trigger the act of making art. This chaotic structure which shapes my outlook on the world, keeps ordinary life above my perception limit. While the dynamism in the chaos becomes consistent throughout the creative process, sometimes it is also dragged into the quest of truth. It descends down to the finest detail that is visible and enables me to mediate its transformation into some space that is external to its own reality. I evaluate the concept of chaos usually with the figures through which the psychological stress of man can be expressed. Because the complexity of human figure gives reference to the starting point of chaos, and it also raises the question of the origin of the confusion. And my style of painting, which progresses with a consistent perspective with regard to the used language, contains experiments that avoids from recurrence of the plastic elements. This attitude, compels me to determine the appropriate medium and the compositions for the subject that is defined by my own cognitive limitations.
