Acrylic and metallic colorshift paint on Ikea shelf with gesso 3D effect on the skirt. Ready to be hung as is. The skirt part is metallic and glossy (and changes color depending on angle), The rest of the image is matte and the text has glossy varnish on. This was my first experiment both with making properly 3D shapes with gesso paint and colorshift paints. I used the "tropical green" colorshift paint on the dress and it turns from bright metallic green to a copper color when viewed from the side or below. The colorshift effect is not visible when viewing from the front in any light though, only when you look at it from an angle. My primary school elective art class teacher said a real artist never writes the title on their work. Clearly I still disagree. I think you should be allowed to do whatever you want with your own creations. So I wrote the title on this one partly to spite her but partly because it fit the composition nicely and I wanted to emphasize that this is supposed to represent spring. I painted this on a spare shelf left over from my desk. I thought I might do all the seasons to make it into a series but I don't have any more shelves left :D .

FYI, I also have smaller pieces for sale on Etsy. Link on my website. :) I was born in 1992 in the heart of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. I was an art line student in upper secondary school (in Lyseonpuiston lukio) and continued on to study graphic design in University of Lapland, where I got my bachelor's and master's degrees with a major in graphic design and minoring in art history. I am now trying out a new path with psychology education while I paint, draw and customize dolls in my free time. I suppose a lot of my art could be considered "vent art". I like to put my difficult and strong emotions into my art and use it to deal with difficult questions I'm grappling with. I also like to use art as another vessel for my interests in alternative fashion and whatever else I may find myself obsessed with. My favorite mediums to work with are colored pencils and acrylic paints.
