About The Artwork

Three years ago, while leaving Barcelona, just before flight, I suddenly imagine these works quite clearly. The thing is, I hadn't specifically visited any of the local museums on that trip. I remembered too well what and where is exhibited in Barcelona, I remembered even the nuances of some exposition, and this time I decided to have а rest. Apparently for this reason my brain did not ask me a lot of questions, as it does after an intense visual load, but immediately gave me the finalised product. What I saw was quite self-sufficient, asserting itself confidently and urgently asked to be on the canvas. The idea was completely formulated by my subconscious mind. All that remained was to comprehend some visualization options, but there was no need to rack my brains for too long. The work presented in the series "Imperfect Rules" solves three main problems: - The painting as an independent decorative element; - Painting as an intriguing derivative of abstraction, minimalism or constructivism; - A playful element and conceptual meaning embedded in the image. The essence of the idea: Any person, one day, wonders about the structure of the world around them. Imperfect rules are just those laws, principles, systemic attitudes or restrictions of all kinds in which we find ourselves in the course of life. These days the rules are changing quite rapidly. Even if not yet at the speed of light, but at such an acceleration that not everyone is able to keep up. Having determined our own status in the system and tied to a certain grid of coordinates, for years or even decades we remain glued to a certain cell in our web. We don't always sense when web is torn, twisted, or when the system is reshaped relative to new laws. This often causes interaction problems. The paintings in the "Imperfect Rules" series carry an encrypted, intriguing message of dialogue. In essence, they are meant to remind the viewer of the impermanence of the relationship between man and the system. Faced with such a depiction of a conceptual idea, the mind involuntarily tries to analyze what it sees and seeks to make sense of it. With what is actually depicted, and under what laws does the action take place. However, unlike the conversation with the image in the style of minimalism, constructivism or abstraction, the seemingly unspecific answer from the canvas does not twist the viewer's thought into a questioning cochlea, but instead promotes a productive dialogue between the viewer and the system, first within the surface of canvas, and then beyond it.
