About The Artwork

IThis painting symbolizes the appearance of a non-concrete phenomenon, a certain absolute on a pedestal. Everybody wants to achieve it, but only individually. The colors in the picture change depending on the type of lighting, which enhances the effect of the phenomenon. The glaze technique of old Dutch painters is used. It consists of applying many thin layers of paint, which create a translucent, slightly shimmering color coating on the surface of the canvas. As a result, the color, while maintaining lightness, gains depth, intensity and saturation. The painting has a wooden fram and a wire loop for wall mounting.

Krzysztof Polak, born in 1947, lives in Warsaw, Poland. Krzysztof uses the glaze technique invented by old Dutch painters. It consists of applying many thin layers of paint, which create a translucent, slightly shimmering color coating on the surface of the canvas. As a result, the color, while maintaining lightness, gains depth, intensity and saturation. His paintings connect the old, noble painting technique with the poetic imagination of contemporary art. Krzysztof's other interest is history and conservation of Japanese swords. He has organized four exhibitions from Polish private collections, published two books and a dozen of articles and lectures. Krzysztof is an expert of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and a member of the Japanese swords' art and protection society NICGON BUJUTSU TOKEN KAI. Since 1982, after a viral disease resulting in paraplegia, he has been moving in a wheelchair.
