About The Artwork

Imelda Marcos (Manila, July 2, 1929) Known as the "Iron Butterfly". Of Japanese and Spanish origin, she grew up in a high-class family, linked to Filipino politics. From very young she participated as Miss Manila, which lost, but the mayor was commissioned to name "Muse of Manila". In 1954, during a visit to the Congress of the Philippines, she met a young congressman, a war hero during his service as a Philippine Army officer in World War II, emerging as a nascent political leader of the Liberal Party. This promising politician was Ferdinand Marcos, who fell in love with the brand new Muse of Manila, marrying her after only eleven days of an publicized courtship. Also known for its exquisite taste of art (it had a collection of approximately 156 works including Van Gogh, Goya, Miro, Monet and Miguel Angel) and also has the largest collection of shoes and jewelry. Imelda has been a cultural icon within the Philippines, creating in this way an image of celebrity that of politics. Many critics consider that the status the population has granted the former first lady demonstrates the level of ignorance of the new generations, because according to them, this position that integrates it into popular culture is basically to forget all the atrocities committed by her and her husband Ferdinand Marcos, that is, grant her a pardon for all her crimes, free her from all responsibility for them, while her supporters maintain that it is a deserved status, being part of the culture and history of the Philippines. According to Forbes, Imelda Marcos had a fortune of $ 5 billion in 2013, the third richest person in the country. Represented with a hat shoe and behind the contrast of Philippines poverty.

(Mexico City, 1987) I have a bachelor in visual arts from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla. I grew up in a family genuinely interested in culture and arts, a condition that marked my career from the very beginning. My work uses painting as a medium and it can be understood as a contemporary portrait proposal. I experiment with different media, formats and artistic issues. Through my career I have participated in eight solo exhibitions in my country and in the United States, as well as in fifty group exhibitions in Puebla, the city where I live, Mexico and internationally in France, Germany and Italy. To this day, part of my artwork can be found in collections such as Fundación Black Coffee Gallery, Fundación Solo por ayudar, Preparémonos Puebla and No Name Art Fair.
