ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Red Room - oil, pastel, spray paint, paper, pencil on hardboard salvaged from the street and it is as I found it but now has my artwork on it. I was initially inspired by Matisse's Red Studio and exploring what it is to be a female and sensuality and sexuality. Fiona Maclean was chosen as an ‘Artist to watch’ and amongst a strong emerging talent of Artists in the ‘One to Watch’ series released by Saatchi Art. Her drawings, illustrations and artwork are featured and recognised in international fashion and design illustration reference books and magazines and as a Fine Artist her paintings and illustrations hang in private collections around the world and appear in International publications.

I am a New Zealand born Painter and Visual Artist currently based in Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia. After studying Art, Design and Production in New Zealand & Australia I continued my studies in Fine Art and Painting at Parsons School of Art (The New School) in New York City. A family tragedy cut my studies short in New York where I had to move back to Australia. I was chosen as an Artist to watch and amongst a strong emerging talent of Artists in the 'One to Watch' series released by Saatchi. As a Fine Artist my paintings and artworks hang in private collections around the world and appear in International reference books and publications. I have exhibited in Australia, UK, the Netherlands and USA. "I am interested in layers, and what it is to be human, sensuality, sexuality and what it is to be female in the world."
