About The Artwork

This painting of a seamtress was inspired by the great work of Robert Heindel. His mastery of composition is amazing. I have "borrowed" one of his ideas for the background of this work. The red headed seamstress was painted from a model. I wanted a contrast of modern composition with a somewhat "old fashioned" tone to the subject matter. The painting is in acrylic on canvas which has been attached to a treated birchwood panel. The panel is 1.5" thick for stability and has been finished in a deep walnut brown. You could hang the work "as is" or, if you prefer, you can have it framed.

I was once traveling with a close friend, photographing everything in sight, as any tourist does. I asked him, "Don't you want to take any photos?" He answered, "I like to remember things in my own way." What a profound statement - and one that I take seriously when I paint. My art is about remembering things . . . in my own way . . . and "disremembering" everything else. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, my artistic career began at an early age when I began painting with my mother on Sunday afternoons. Surrounded by art books, paintings and sculpture at home, I always knew I wanted to be a painter.
