The sufi veil sisters, This artwork is inspired from a similitude in Quran that, .. ۖ يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ ۚ .. (13:3) ".. He brings the night as a cover over the day.." He made night a veil for the day and.. "..إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ.." "In it are signs for people who reflect." One reflection for me is the reflection of hijaab for women especially in this very controversial time when people label hijabi women with whatever the society fills in their minds. Whereas to wear hijaab is very intimate and very private act which must be a personal decision made in heart of a woman and should be respected in her surroundings. But let's take this concept of hijaab and ponder upon it as Hijaab is Zikr for a woman who Chooses to wear it. It is not separated from zikr as wearing hijaab is remembering your Lord Who is Al Jameel and as the night is providing (in command of its Lord) tranquility (peace and rest) for the day, similarly it is providing the inner tranquility to women by fulfilling the command of their Lord. The Beauty they withhold in them is the zikr of Al Jameel - The Most Beautiful One and fulfilling His Command brings in them tranquility and peace that shines through them everywhere they go and be.. And whenever one do this, they do it for their hearts (without any force) which beats Zikr of their Lords. The beauty of the veil is tranquility. No one can describe it like Quran has described the night for the day and If they ask you for your veil, tell them it is to protect the inner tranquility in me by fulfilling what my Beautiful Lord has commanded me. The artwork contains three things in it. Sufi is metaphor to Zikr, night to tranquility and Hijaab as a command (taken and fulfilling by a womanwhi chose to wear it).
