VIEW IN MY ROOM
I was immediately in love as soon as I pulled this print and turned it over! The colour and colour transitions, the texture created, the valleys and peaks created and changes of high contrast areas and smooth passes. Done in acrylics on heavier weight watercolour paper in several different blues it is just a very appealing piece. The actual paper size is 18" (45.72 cms) x 24" (60.96 cms) and the image area is 16" (40.64 cms) x 20" (50.8 cms). The monoprint is numbered 1/1, titled and signed along the bottom of the print, just under the image area. The process of monotype printing is one in which paint/ink is put down on a plate (plexiglass, etc.), the image is constructed on that plate, paper is put down on top of it, pressure is applied to the back of the paper and then the paper is pulled off the plate. The image is then transferred onto the paper. This can be done once or over and over to construct an image. This results in ONE print only. Once this print is gone, it's gone. Done in lightfast and archival-quality top of the line professional Golden and Winsor Newton artist paints.

Rather than empowering what kills our motivation and spirit in the world, I rebel against that by focusing on creating nature-inspired positive, uplifting and vibrant original fine art in accessible and affordable small to large formats, limiting and/or eliminating ecologically harmful materials and methods in the process. Having established a firm foundation in realism, I have grown into abstract expressionism to capture the evocation of what I see and feel when in nature. I find acrylics to be a great medium to convey the texture, energy, immediacy and spontaneity of the moods that are invoked by the natural world; be it a gloomy eve or a radiant summer day, quiet in the air or the rushing of waves. Oils also have their place in capturing evocative and luminescent scenes and subjects. Watercolours, coloured pencils, charcoal, oil pastel and so on, lend themselves to a specific moment or expression. These mediums help me to describe that moment that I am capturing or trying to express in a tangible, physical, emotional evocative form.
