About The Artwork
The roots of a tree are what makes a tree. Triple roots make a triple tree. Work inspired by famous 19th century French photographer Eugène Atget with whom I share a fascination for trees. He took up photography in 1880 and did a series of photos of trees in the 1920s. The background (celadon green) is one I have used on a series of paintings: I find the color congenial for artwork based on sophisticated drawing, something I explored for several years, from 2001 to 2010. This particular work was done in Paris, in 2004.
