ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The brushstrokes and structure of this work are abstract. The choice of warm colors and the composition based on geometric shapes give the whole a solid, warm foundation. Yet we can make out figures marching in procession under a bright sun, so hot that they need an umbrella. This painting exudes energy and modernity, and can be adapted to any living space.

Biography Fanou Montel knows artistic exaltation from an early age. Nothing will upset her impetus, nor her parents’ refusal to start studies at the Beaux-Arts she coveted, nor her job as professor of economics and management, nor the education of her two children. Globetrotter, she will draw in her travels innumerable creative sensations from the meetings she makes, landscapes she admire ... armed with a notebook and colored markers. About fifteen solo exhibitions, numerous participations in French and international shows and a collaboration with some galleries, Fanou Montel likes to confront her painting with the eyes of those who will know how to see something that moves them. Artistic approach The drawing, then the ink very quickly, were the vectors of her sensitivity of child and teenager. When painting imposed itself on her, a little later, she figuratively tried to translate her emotions. Nudes, portraits, quantities of landscapes ... The touches appeared more and more abstract ... Abstraction has become, for some years now, the tool of her creative liberation ... And then, as nothing is immutable, some figurative transcriptions are gradually emerging ... and she lets it go ... At the start of a painting, jubilant phase, the gesture is ample, fast, spreading colored masses, setting a rhythm by masses, voids, lines, traces ... It is rare that she sets herself a precise image to create, she prefers to explore all possibilities by allowing herself to be repented and to let herself be guided by the emotions that arise as the architecture is put in place… She paints for that!! To live these intense moments that gives her creation. Even though doubt and questioning often tease her, they never stop her from starting again, again and again ...
