About The Artwork

The starting point for this cycle of images was that Hitchcock often took the composition of artistic images for the frames of his films. Later this idea developed as I watched his films again and read his famous interview with Trifo. It was also one of the starting points for me to show fear on my canvas as one of the basic enemies of a man and who in the present time is in abundance. Hitchcock was a master to show fear and caused tension for spectators. Given that Hitchcock dealt with a moving image and I was static, I was looking for a way to start a static image and come up with the idea to include in the pictures the quote of Victor Vazarelli as the greatest painter of the OP art and whose static images are moving in front of the viewer's eyes. For the compositions of my paintings, I selected scenes from Psycho, The Wrong Man, Rear Window, Birds and, of course, Vertigo. I chose scenes where the main characters of the frightened views are trying to aloud on the time in which we live. The themes of Hitchcock movies are still current and I spiced them with details that are recognizable from our time and to everyone, since in my pictures I always take a critical attitude towards the time and values in which and under which we live. Of the six paintings I have exposed only to one woman, this was the murder of Janet Li of Psiho, where I wanted to show that a woman, like a mother, a housewife, a lady and all that a woman was once in the past, was killed by imposing the imperative of success.I decided to use black-and-white technique because I wanted to point out the nonsense and the unstoppableness of today's abundance of enriched full color, persuading us to live in a beautiful world, which unfortunately is not true. Acrylic on canvas.
