About The Artwork
'Velella Velella' appeared on the beach one morning. 'By-the-wind-sailor', 'purple sail' or 'sea raft' are other names for these quite mysterious looking free-floating hydrozoans. Colouring the shoreline with a collage of sticky purpley blue, their shape so intriguing, I excitedly called over the whole family to come and experience them. Never a day is the same as the one before! This dynamic piece was painted over-looking the sea using berry, cobalt and turquoise blues, capturing the essence of an ever-moving seascape. Acrylic, oil pastel and ink are blended on canvas, navigating between figurative and semi-abstract styles. The art continues along the edges and is signed on the front and the back of the painting. This painting will bring a bold and enchanting presence to any space. Ready to hang.
