About The Artwork
The work was created on the occasion of the bicentenary of the bicycle. The running machine invented by Karl Drais, the "draisine", made rapid movement without a horse possible for the first time. Due to the catastrophic bad harvest of 1816, which resulted in famine, a lack of fodder (oats) and horse deaths, this two-wheeled vehicle became a riding horse substitute in 1817 (according to a thesis by Hans-Erhard Lessing). This development did not stop at the centaurs. The hybrid creatures of horse and human adapted to the external conditions and the horse part was transformed into a bicycle, or wheel for short (French: le vélo). The "Velotaurus" was born. The human part of the Velotaurus is represented by Leonardo da Vinci, to whose account, among other things, many great inventions go, even if not that of the bicycle. The painting is in a gold coloured shadow gap frame, at no extra charge.

I am born in Neuenbürg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. From an early age, I loved painting and drawing as a means to represent my own fantasies, desires, and dreams. I decided against the initially plan to study art because its contents did not meet my expectations and instead opted for a science degree. However, my passion for art was always present. I taught myself by training through books, museums visits, exchanges with other artists, and personal experience. The content of my images is determined by the artist’s fantasies, perceptions, life, and love for animals and nature. For me, visual arts means an expression that starts where words are not enough and the camera can’t see anything. I want to make this visible through a realistic manner of painting. My genre is surrealism and fantastic realism and preferred media are oil paints and graphite. Artists who inspired me: Salvador Dali, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington and others.
