Warm Door Print

A leaf shaped doorway opened, not in my imagination, but overlaying reality. If had opened my eyes I would have undoubtedly still have seen it. It was slowly pulling at me, gently but firmly. I wasn't ready, I retracted and pulled away. When I was a child I was terrified of the plug hole in the bathtub. If the plug came out while I was still in the water I was very upset- It was a terrifying concept. Where did that little round dark mouth take all that nice warm water? This door way that had opened up felt similar, there was the feeling of acceleration the closer you get to passing through it and also a fear of the unknown- But unlike the plug hole in the bath there was a personality. It had a soul, like a person or an animal. It acknowledged my unease. It was happy to let me go. It didnt try to suck me in, unlike the plughole. I wonder what would have happened if I had gone through the door. Death? Or something more immersive than anything I had ever experienced before? Who knows. I wasn't ready. Thats the bottom line. One day I would be and it would come back and I'd greet it warmly and dive in. But not that day.
