ABOUT THE ARTWORK
It was the beginning of my starting to use paint as paint. It is my third painting done at Hunter College. I would love to tell you the story of my critique from the teacher there but it is embarrassing except to say it lives with me in a good way. There are no words to describe what it feels like to paint in oils. The challenge, the sensual aspects of it. The joy. But it is one of the paintings that made me see why people buy art to hang in their homes. It is continuous pleasure.
