It is a part of my '300 words' series. In literary circles it is considered more difficult to write short pieces. A novel is easy: one can ‘cover’ stylistically weak portions by stronger ones; straighten out a story line gone awry; add a curious description to make up for boring narrative. In a short story, however, all the author’s blunders are exposed. So a miniature limited to more than 300 words is regarded as one of the most exacting genres. Same applies to painting, especially abstract painting. On a larger work meant to decorate a wall, individual details are less prominent and the painting itself rather serves to contribute to the background and set up the general ambience. A smaller picture is always challenging to make: you see it as a whole, it’s all there in front of you. 300 Words is my series of small-size works where I reason about how to convey a full narrative, complete with all its classical stages like set-up, build-up, climax, and resolution. The artwork was painted with professional oil paint on canvas. Stretched on a wooden frame. The sides are painted, so the painting is ready to hang. You get a certification of authenticity.
