About The Artwork

Colorful beauty of Coral Reef inspired me. My art works are always colorful to cheer up my life. I am attracted by the flash beauty of Mineral pigment colors just like the beauty of corals. Grind Mineral’s willingness to be transformed in layers of texture, makes it a perfect medium for exploring the beauties of underwater creatures.I like the free running of paints on surface was well just as the background of liquidity. Free with no absolute ending just like making art.

Fanny Tang was born on a beautiful small island, Nauru, a Central Pacific Island near Australia and formerly known as Pleasant Island. She holds a BFA in oil painting (University of Calgary). Back and worked in Hong Kong after her undergraduate. In 2013 she finished her MFA in the Fresco Department (Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China). She currently lives and works in Vancouver BC., Canada. Fanny has held solo and group exhibitions in Beijing, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States, and Canada. My motto “swim to my dream, and freedom from my mind”, flows from the Buddhist teaching “In the present moment lies freedom”. The technique of pouring acrylic sheets to form swimming sea creatures, integrating: mountains, clouds, birds into seascapes, and aquatic life into skyscapes, forms a mythical world, juxtaposing realism, and surrealism, offering reprieve from reality; ultimately reminding us that there is always potential, hope, and connection in the now. A lexicon of personal, and cultural meaning populate these works. Water represents oneness, and connection; insight of the Sūtra on Heart, and Eight Realizations of Great Beings symbolized by Chinese characters’ shaped corals, jellyfishes, and puffer fishes representing freedom, and suffering.
