Another piece in my self portrait series. I started to play with the idea of mortality in the wilderness. The figure has reflective eyes, akin to that of a wolf. An attack may be anticipated or maybe he is something more than a man. This piece explores the idea of self reverence, self acceptance.

Victorious Faith McLeod is a living figurative artist and student working and studying in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Florida. His goal is to pursue the classical tradition, while creating a fresh, contemporary philosophy to express through his work. He is currently en route to study at Chiaroscuro Studio of Art, to acquire a certificate in advanced painting, and Florida Atlantic University to gain a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy. His most recent work isdivided into 3 series: The Navel Gazer, Amber Matter, and Recompense. The Navel Gazer series is a series of self portraits, using the artists own face as a method of figurative and spiritual exploration. The concepts may relate to the artist personally, or the pieces could be used to express a theme as a whole. Many grand artists such as Rembrandt, Diego Rivera, and Lucien Freud practice this tradition. Amber Matter is a series of paintings used to study the effects of any mixture of a color with Indian Yellow. This could include a mixture of IY and Transparent Red Oxide, Permanent Crimson, Quinacridones, Manganese Blues or Violets, etc. The nature of these works are close to the American perspective on Autumn, which was once culturally relevant for the Harvest, The Final Blooming of many plants, and is a symbol of Maturity. Recompense is a darker series of paintings, exploring the darker portions of the American experience. America is a very young country, and yet so much history has been kept in the darkness from the American people. There is a constant war and distrust amongst the American people and the American government, contrary to the ideology in which the artist was raised to believe. This series is about the discovery of the truth through allegories and storytelling.
