About The Artwork

"YIN" and "YANG" - the agreement of opposites Much in our world has its opposite. However, on both sides of the phenomenon, things do not exclude each other, rather the opposite, one needs the other. Because without night there can be no day, without suffering there is no joy and without life, there is no death. Opposites are inextricably linked to each other, forming a single whole, like two sides of the same coin. This view of the ancient Chinese is found in the roots of our culture. Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher who lived around 500 BC. e. wrote about this: "The living and the dead, the waking and the sleeping, the young and the old are the same because the first turn into the second, and the second also turns and becomes the first again." We learn from differences Human cognition operates in principle in the same way throughout the world. We all perceive reality, measuring it by some of our internal criteria. We develop these criteria ourselves based on contradictory impressions of the senses. Here is one example: a baby feels two glasses of milk. He determines that one glass is hot and the other is cold. In this way, children in both the Far East and the West learn to know the world by distinguishing and evaluating them. Almost any concept has the opposite. Meanwhile, contradictions help us not only to learn. Without them, the world would not be what it is. One side of the phenomenon cannot exist without the other. Think about this: Doesn't it happen to you that you feel a house "big" just because some other house looks "small" to you? How could anything stand "on the right" if there was nothing on the "left"? How could your glass be truly "full" of something if it hadn't been "empty" before? How could the sky be "above" you if the earthlings were "below" you? How could you be satisfied with anything at all if you did not know what dissatisfaction is? Could you really feel a deed as "good" if there were no "evil" deeds on the other side? "YIN" is death, "YANG" is life The ancient Chinese gave these two sides, which are present in all things, the name "yin" and "yang". All possible pairs of opposites can be ordered under these two concepts. "Yin" means the feminine, and "yang" means the masculine. "Yin" characterizes such properties as "dark", "cold" and "passive", and "yang" - "light", "warm" and "active". "Yin" is night and death, "yang" is day and life. The list of opposites can go on for a long time. But you need to understand the principle of thinking. The values of yin and yang Yin yang female inner soft pliable dark wet cold motionless negative passive unconscious to be in love moon earth perception (alien) music male outdoor solid aggressive light dry hot dynamic positive active conscious work sun sky creativity (own) noise Opposites form one whole To understand the principle of "yin" and "yang", it is important to consider both not as "opponents" who fight among themselves. On the contrary, according to the Chinese view, the opposites in this world are inextricably linked. And only together do they form a "whole". In addition, "yin" and "yang" should not be considered as permanent properties, they rather change continuously and pass into each other: my hand is warmer ("yang") than the wall, but colder ("yin") than a cup with tea. If I put a warm hand in cold water, it will eventually become ("yin"). In Chinese medicine, the pair of opposites "yin" and "yang" is crucial both for the organization of healthy people's correct way of life and for examination and diagnosis in case of any malaise.
