PRINT DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Agave Flames" The lighting was changing, so the challenge of getting the agave in focus and exposing detail was the most difficult part. On this particular image I was happy with the balance and the depth of the darker parts of the agave I was able to acheive. There are times when working with a shot that patience is pushed to the limit. This was one of those times. Its hard to imagine this was taken from the same plant. But angle and height from the ground at time of exposure were critical. PRINT DETAILS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------. This image will be printed using Archival Inks and Canson Rag Photographique 100% cotton museum grade Fine Art Paper. This paper offers a unique extra smooth surface with a sensual feel. It also provides one the highest acheivable Dmax available, making it ideal for Fine Art images. Other sizes can be ordered by the contacting curators at Saatchi Art. Brandon LeValley (1954) is a photographic artist from the United States. In 1976 he graduated from Washington State University where his Bachelor’s Degree included Art studies. He’s always had a passion for photography. That desire was fueled early in life when he was still shooting film and utilizing a darkroom to process images. Holding a final print offered a world of experience seeing how the light on a subject materialized. Years later he realized the digital camera had revolutionized processing. Today, he converts most images to black and white and often shoots botanicals for their dramatic lines and shape. He’s also drawn to architecture and landscapes. Living near Joshua Tree National Park provides many dramatic configurations that come from his explorations. While his journey in photography has evolved, it’s often ignited by striking lighting. He’s fascinated by the abstract and uses every tool to achieve a finished composition. A unique image, he believes, comes about by a disciplined and oftentimes exhaustive approach. Knowing the payoff can be rewarding, that commitment to detail ultimately renders a more compelling work.
