The centrepiece of the series Pick Me - Hold Me, BODY is number 3 in the series Based entirely on the analogy of textures and shapes between human body and skin and a strawberry, wheat and grapes these studio studies explore the way the light slides, reflects and enhances the textures and the shapes while simultaneously playing with concepts of seduction, sensuality and desire Pick Me The skin between the knuckles, the nails, the red of the strawberry and the little detail. the light reflecting on the knuckles and the cacophony of angles and shapes of soft and rough, of colour and the lack of it Wheat The lines on the palms that burst out of every fold of the fingers and the hands and the repetitiveness of the wheat ending in thin lines Body The unusual pose that emphasises the shoulder muscles and the crates of emptiness they create in the shadows followed by the extended upwards arms ending in a thin line of a much lighter skin of the palms like and end of a grass blade that is slightly discoloured by the elements. Strawberry The confusing shape of the biceps and the scar mirroring the old tattoo lines with the strawberry found in an unexpected place - not a strawberry skin but a strawberry surrounded by skin - both imperfect and yet somehow perfect with their imperfections Hold Me The smooth surface of the fingernails that simultaneously mirror and juxtapose the smoothness of the grapes and the hands closing around the grapes creating the idea of being engulfed

Regina Ray started her photography practice in the mid 90’s and this led to her Master’s in Photography at the Cambridge School of Art in 2017. While her work is often described as visceral, she sometimes refers to her approach to subject matter as "momentary" and “trivial" - her photography series are often explore salient traits such as texture, feel, reflections or colour yet with a twist of the unexpected and with an unpredictable definition of established meanings. Another part of her work is an exploration into the realms of human relationships - her fascination with human interactions and the emotional world of humans whether in isolation or as part of a social group, are the main inspiration behind her photographic practice. Education: 2015-2017 | Cambridge School of Art, MA Photography, Cambridge UK 2007-2010 | Anglia Ruskin University, BA Marketing, Cambridge UK
